Development is important and is a priority in all fields including that of entertainment but it is not worth being resorted to by compromising the factor of bio-diversity and the greeneries environmentally essential for a pollution free life on earth. As it is an ambitious plan of his, Akhilesh Yadav, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has cleared a project to run a toy train in local Kanpur Zoo (Allen Forest) spread in an area of 76.5 hectares with variety of animals as its inmates. This will require cutting of 241 trees giving the forest a bald look. Since there is a keen contest as to how best Narendra Modi, Gujarat Chief Minister, can be copied on development front, this one too is in the same series imitating Modi in most successfully running his Atal Express (a mini train) in most prestigious a park locally at Ahmedabad. The venture is important from entertainment angle and with a view to attract tourist visitors to the Zoo, but cutting as many as 241 trees amounts to killing the same number of live beings as they are the ones who environmentally protect us from pollution and bad weather giving many of humans and animals shelter against scorching sun. Different live species of rare type being animals, birds, creepers who are virtually the inmates of the Zoo too may not take the venture in good taste. The environmental factor is something which can’t be compromised in the name of some development or the other.
